RELATIONSHIP OF ISONIAZID TO THE METABOLISM OF MYCOBACTERIA - CATALASE AND PEROXIDASE

Abstract
The presence of peroxidase in mycobacteria was demonstrated by use of catechol as an acceptor. The enzyme is heat-labile, sensitive to cyanide and azide, and different from the related enzyme, catalase. All mycobacteria resistant to isoniazid do not possess peroxidase.
