The Fate of Labeled Foreign Antigens in the Livers of Normal and Immunized Rabbits

Abstract
These investigations establish the fact that foreign antigens, or fragments of such antigens, persist in liver tissue for many months and perhaps for years after injection. Most of the retained material is always closely associated with ribonucleic acid. It is suggested that such material may play a role as templates in antibody formation and also be involved in subsequent immune mechanisms such as immune tolerance, anamnestic or secondary responses and perhaps the stabilization of small amounts of antibody in tissue spaces.
