Abstract
Intracerebral inoculation of homologous interfering virus or receptor-destroying enzyme 2 hrs. before injn. of toxic doses of influenza A (PR8) virus was shown to be markedly suppressive to development of toxic episodes in mice. Introduction of RDE into mouse brain was, however, not inhibitory for virus administered intraven. Injn. of RDE 2 hrs. after toxic virus failed to modify the incidence of toxic reactions. The necessity for union of virus* with susceptible cell in the induction of toxic reactions is discussed in the light of these observations. Keywords
