Abstract
The dynamical effective masses for the in-plane motion, determined from the exact subband structure, are used to study excitons in zinc-blende heterostructures. The transition for heavy-hole excitons in (Ga,Al)As-GaAs quantum wells, with and without the exciton-phonon interaction, is compared with experimental results.
