Effective charges andE2transitions in1f−2pshell nuclei

Abstract
The proton and neutron effective charges needed to reproduce the observed E2 data on the transitions between the ground state bands of the isotopes of Ti(A=4450), V(A=4751), Cr(A=4852), and Fe(A=52,54) are found to be ep=(1.33±0.09) e, en=(0.64±0.10) e. These charges were obtained by a least-squares fit between the deformed configuration mixing shell model calculated and the observed B(E2) values for the transitions in these nuclei. These values support the charges ep=1.25 e, en=0.47 e obtained recently by Kuo and Osnes in a microscopic calculation and the charges ep=1.21 e, en=0.79 e obtained on the basis of macroscopic estimates of Bohr and Mottelson.
