Abstract
Intrinsic factor or a mixture of intrinsic factor and Co60-B12 was injected intravenously to rabbits and rats in which a biliary fistula had been prepared, and excretion of B12 binding power or C06O in bile was measured. It was found that significant amounts of B12 binding power or Co60 appeared in the bile within one hour and that such excretion began almost immediately following the intravenous administration. The data suggest the possibility that intrinsic factor circulates in minute quantities in blood and is excreted into bile. It is also postulated that instantantaneous appearance of intrinsic factor in bile is effected by a route from the Disse''s space into the bile canaliculus via the electronmicroscopic gap between liver cells. Keywords
