Abstract
The position and fine structure of the x-ray K-absorption edge of niobium in niobium metal and in its oxides have been investigated using a 400-mm bent crystal (mica) spectrograph. The K-absorption edge of niobium in its oxides shifts towards higher energy with respect to that in niobium metal; the shift is greater the higher the valence state of niobium. Keywords
