Abstract
Nine of 60 compounds tested in vitro for antiviral effect against Columbia-SK, lymphocytic choriomeningitis, vaccina or adeno type-12 viruses, showed effects against both a deoxyribonucleic-acid (DNA) and an ribonucleic-acid (RNA) virus: 5-methyl-, 7-aza-, 5-bromo-tryptophan; indoloquinoxaline; 5-nitrobenzotriazole; methyl-GAG, vitamin B12; propionin; noformicin. Of these, 5-methyl-tryptophan and noformicin were the most effective (3 out of 4 viruses). Keywords
