Abstract
Perspex duodenal cannulas were inserted in 4 adult goats to allow introduction of stained marker materials. When stained hay was given by mouth, and fecal fragments stained another color were simultaneously introduced through the cannula, mean retention time for the hay was 36.1-60.0 hours, and for the fecal fragments 11.0.-14.4 hours. No significant differences in mean retention times were found between particles introduced into the duodenum in the morning and in the afternoon. Keywords
