Abstract
Adrenal cortical hormone (A. C. H.) given to normal sexually mature rats before mating has a marked tendency to increase the incidence of pregnancy and the number of fetuses. A.C.H. given to [female][female] throughout pregnancy when the diet has a normal Na and K content does not affect litter size or wt. The reduction in total litter wt. produced by reducing the Na and increasing the K content of the diet is prevented by A.C.H. administration. The lactation capacity of normal albino rats feeding 8 young is only slightly altered by A.C.H. administration, being increased only when the diet has a low Na content. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
