Abstract
The influence of hyperfine deorientation in recoil-distance Doppler shift measurements was studied for high spin states in , , , and having lifetimes in the range between 30 ps and 10 ns. At a recoil velocity of , deorientation in vacuo was found to be negligible for lifetimes up to several ns.
