Abstract
Pituitary insufficiency is rarely reported to exist in association with an abnormal elevation in the serum triglycerides. In those instances where the two conditions have coexisted, except for the diabetic hyperlipemia occurring with acromegaly, attempts to attribute the lipid abnormality to a specific endocrine or metabolic defect were not usually made (1, 2). However, Tabatznik and Rabinowitz (3) demonstrated that the hyperlipemia in their hypopituitary patient, as well as in one described by Zollner (4), was reversible once the associated myxedema was corrected.
