Abstract
Experiments were done to determine whether a significant difference exists in the ability of male and female rat kidneys to transport p-aminohippurate (PAH). The rate of transport of PAH, as measured in renal cortical slices and in intact kidneys from unanesthetized, undisturbed rats, was approximately 50% higher in males than in females. Gonadectomy abolished the sex difference and administration of testosterone to gonadectomized rats increased the rate of PAH transport. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
