Fluctuations inC12(O16, α)Mg24andC12(O16,Beg.s.8)Ne20reactions

Abstract
A statistical model analysis has been performed on the excitation functions for C12(O16, α)Mg24 (0+, g.s.; 2+, 1.37; 4+, 4.12 +; 2+, 4.24; 3+, 5.24 MeV) from Ec.m.=13.17 to Ec.m.=23.09 MeV at θL=35° and for C12(O16, Beg.s.8)Ne20 (0+, g.s.; 2+, 1.63; 4+, 4.25 MeV) from Ec.m.=14.07 to Ec.m.=23.09 MeV (for 0+, g.s.), Ec.m.=14.46 to Ec.m.=23.09 MeV (for 2+, 1.63 MeV), Ec.m.=16.65 to Ec.m.=23.09 MeV (for 4+, 4.25 MeV) at θL=32.5°. The number of effective channels was calculated exactly. The theoretical and experimental distributions of the cross sections agree reasonably well and indicate that the fluctuating component of the experimental cross sections is consistent with statistical model predictions for these quantities.
